Call for Board Candidate Nomination

CFA Society Sydney, a not-for-profit organisation, is a member society of CFA Institute, the world’s largest association of investment professionals. The Society is dedicated to developing and promoting the highest educational, ethical, and professional standards in the investment industry.

CFA Society Sydney is seeking nominations for two directors to the Society Board at the upcoming AGM in November 2022.  These are important board roles requiring experienced, motivated and committed candidates. These roles provide a unique opportunity to work with the dedicated and collective professional team to serve members and grow the community and industry.

Board Role
Our Board is the governing entity of the Society’s activities and is supported by the National CEO, the Executive Director for Sydney and their team. The board meets every other month with separate strategy sessions throughout the year and is actively involved in Society activities. Board roles are volunteer roles and all directors have demonstrated commitment and capacity to serve on the board.
Based on an established skill matrix, the board considers the following skills are critical to the board’s role: strategic thinking, financial/investment, marketing, leadership, employer engagement, education/training, member organisation, governance, regulatory/advocacy, and technology. Please see more details in HERE.

For the 2022 nomination cycle, the society is looking for directors with expertise in any of the areas of; education/training experience, technology, or regulatory/advocacy. Previous board experience particularly with member-based organisations will be considered beneficial for the board’s collective responsibilities.

Process
Regular members in good standing could be nominated or self-nominated as a director candidate. The nominating member and nominated candidate need to complete the Director Candidate Nomination Form,  a copy of CV including experiences with the Society and two referees. However, if you have previously applied for an open board position with the Sydney Society within the last 3 years, and you provided an updated CV and two referees as part of that previous nomination process, you may consider these two items as optional (the Director Candidate Nomination Form will still need to be completed). Applications are due by 5pm on Friday, 16th September 2022.

The nominated candidates will be considered by the Nominating Committee for recommendation to the CFA Society Sydney Board. The Board will recommend the selected candidate for a three-year term in the AGM notice to the membership for election at AGM in November.

We strongly encourage candidates to review the below materials before participating in this process:
