Why pursue the CFA Charter?

Whether you are a university student or a professional that is looking to advance in your career, you are probably wondering if the CFA Program is right for you. Here we discuss some of the top reasons why you should consider the CFA Program:

Gold standard

The CFA Charter is recognised as the gold standard education program within the investment industry. It therefore has strong signalling value to employers and differentiates candidates for employment. Pursuing the CFA Charter indicates a level of dedication and passion for a career in the investment industry.

Value for money and time commitment

Another key reason to pursue the CFA Charter is the value for money of the program. In Australia, the CFA charter is comparable to a Masters degree standard, or Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) Level 9. It is also formally recognised by regulators globally. The time commitment and cost of becoming a CFA Charterholder compared to a Masters degree are significantly less.

In addition, according to US survey findings, employees with CFA designation tend to have a higher premium in compensation compared to people with cross credentials such as accounting credentials.

Coverage of the industry

Another consideration is the relevance, practical and contemporary nature of the CFA Program content. The CFA Program covers an extensive foundation of knowledge covering different aspects of the investment industry including various asset classes, portfolio construction skills, valuation techniques and risk management.

The CFA Program supports individuals not only in securing their first role in the industry, but also in providing the knowledge and skillset for longevity and success in their wider career.
