Continuing CFA Society Sydney’s Opening Doors Events, we are holding our second Webinar event for FEMALE candidates and members in the early stages of their career.

Opening Doors – Early Career is designed to provide inspiration and guidance to female candidates and members:
- Inspire stamina and resiliency through the gruelling exam ‘funnel’;
- Provide representation from a spectrum of CFA charterholders working in financial services, of different types of careers that are possible.
- Demonstrate how the CFA program can assist you in each of the represented fields.
- Provide guidance on transitioning from a non-finance background.
In this round Anshula Venkataraman, CFA Senior Investment Analyst Investment Products & Services Crestone Wealth Management will introduce the event and guest speakers:
- Dr Brindha Gunasingham, CFA – Managing Director of FitBiz Investment Analysis
- Raj Gohil, CFA – Executive Director, Head of Australia Macquarie Investment Management
- Tracey McNaughton, CFA – Chief Investment Officer, Escala Partners
- Michelle Wigglesworth, CFA – Investment Manager for Milton Corporation
Candidates and Members will be allocated to a breakout room with one of the four speakers with a small group of candidates and members. Each speaker will spend 10 minutes sharing their career path, how the CFA Charter shaped their journey and helpful advice they have learnt along the way. This will be followed by an open forum where members and candidates will have the opportunity to ask the speaker and host any questions relating to their own career.
Dr. Brindha Gunasingham, CFA
PhD (UNSW & USyd), GAICD, CFA, MA (Cambridge), MSc Econ (London), BA Hons (Cambridge)
Brindha is the Founder and Managing Director of FitzBiz Investment Analysis & Strategy (a quantitative and strategy consulting business servicing the global investment and finance industry for over 17 years), and the CEO of Good Lioness (a fintech start-up). In previous roles as the Global Head of Research at AMP Private Capital and the Australasian Head of Research at PricewaterhouseCoopers Financial Advisory Services, she managed research teams in the private equity and investment banking sectors.
Brindha is a Past President of the CFA Society of Sydney. As a Director of the Society from 2003 to 2014, her roles included President, Vice-President, Member Education Chair and Candidate Education Director. As well as a Board member on the Northside Community Forum.
Brindha is currently the CFA Society of Sydney Representative of the CFA Institute APAC Research Exchange, and has also been involved with numerous CFA Institute initiatives. As an academic, Brindha has lectured in investment and corporate finance at a number of universities. She has held senior positions as the Dean of Undergraduate Programs, Full Professor of Economics and Member of the Academic Board. She is a co-author of several finance textbooks.
Brindha is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder, holds a Master of Arts Degree and a Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree in Economics from the University of Cambridge, together with a Master of Science Degree in Economics from the University of London. In addition, she holds a Doctorate in Banking and Finance from the University of New South Wales and University of Sydney.
Raj Gohil, CFA
Head of MIM Australia & MAM Client Solutions Group ANZ
Raj is the Head of Macquarie Investment Management in Australia, and an Executive Director of Macquarie Group. In addition to his leadership role, he also has responsibility for the MAM Client Solutions Group in ANZ. Raj is a Director on two Macquarie company Boards, and is also on the Board of the CFA Sydney Society.
Prior to his current role, Raj spent over 6 years in the Fixed Interest and Currency team were he headed the Product and Business Management team, and worked as an Investment Specialist.
Prior to Macquarie, Raj worked at JANA Investment Advisers where he was involved in the development of asset allocation and investment strategies for some of Australia’s largest superannuation funds. Raj started his career as a graduate Research Analyst with MLC.
Tracey McNaughton, CFA
CIO Escala Partners
Tracey has been working in financial markets since 1995 starting as an Economist for CS First Boston in Sydney where she worked for her economics professor from the University of Newcastle. Having completed her Masters degree from NSW University she then moved into investment management with Westpac Investment Management working with the quantitative asset allocation team building equity, bond and currency models across domestic and international markets. When Westpac bought BT Financial Group Tracey took on the role of Senior Economist during which time she became a CFA Charterholder.
In 2006, Tracey took up a position with Baillie Gifford in Edinburgh where she worked in the fixed income team. After three years, family bought her back to Sydney where she took up a position in the fixed income team at Colonial First State Asset Management. During this time Tracey became a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
In 2013, Tracey took up the role of Head of Investment Strategy at UBS Asset Management where she was responsible for the suite of multi-asset funds offered to Australian-based clients.
Tracey was appointed Chief Investment Officer at Escala Partners in November 2019. In this role she has responsibility for strategic and tactical asset allocation and manager selection across the suite of multi-asset funds and is Chair of the Escala Partners Investment Committee.
Michelle Wigglesworth CFA, CPA
Investment Manager, Milton Capital
Michelle is an Investment Manager for Milton Corporation, an Australian listed investment company. During the 15 years that Michelle has been at Milton, she has developed extensive knowledge of ASX listed companies, with specific focus on the sectors of General Insurance, Diversified Financials, Real Estate trusts and Technology.
Prior to joining Milton, Michelle has held management accounting and business analyst positions for organisations including UBS and Citigroup.
Michelle is a CFA Charterholder and is CPA qualified.
